Toronto, ON - November 17, 2023 - Local Line, the leading e-commerce platform for local food, and Brighter Bites, a nonprofit that delivers fresh fruits & vegetables to families in need, are pleased to announce a new partnership that will help families in need access fresh, local produce direct from family farms.

Founded in 2012 and headquartered in Houston, TX, Brighter Bites believes that every family deserves access to fresh fruits & vegetables. Brighter Bites partners with schools in food deserts in 11 different US cities to help students and their families access fresh produce. Each week, the Brighter Bites team selects fresh products from their donors, ships the products to the school, sorts and bags them up, and hands them to students to take home to their families. In addition to the produce, Brighter Bites provides the families with nutrition handbooks, tips sheets, and recipes.

Local Line is relied on by thousands of family-owned produce farms in America for e-commerce, inventory management, delivery routing, invoicing, and more. Through this new partnership, produce farms that use Local Line can create a free ‘Donations' listing and share it with Brighter Bites, unlocking new access to on-farm fresh produce.

“Access to fresh produce is the backbone of the Brighter Bites program, and through our new partnership with Local Line, we’re gaining a new channel to help us continue to provide fresh produce to children and families that need it the most”, says Rich Dachman, CEO at Brighter Bites.
“Local Line is proud to partner with Brighter Bites to help increase the supply of fresh fruits & vegetables they can provide to their students & families. Finding innovative ways to reduce would-be food waste is important to us, and we can’t think of a better place for fresh produce from Local Line farms to end up than in the hands of the great team at Brighter Bites”, says Cole, CEO at Local Line.
