Toronto, Ontario - June 18, 2024 - Local Line, the leading local food e-commerce platform for farms, food hubs, restaurants, and grocers has acquired Anjoy, a Michigan based e-commerce platform and marketplace that connects local food suppliers with independent grocers.
Founded in 2022 by Michigan native Jeff Boore, Anjoy was created to cultivate a more local, sustainable, and delicious food system by using technology to remove barriers to local food, primarily those that have historically prevented local suppliers from being able to sell to grocers. This strategic acquisition marks an exciting milestone for both companies and re-enforces Local Line’s commitment to transforming the local food industry.
Over the past two years Anjoy’s small team had an outsized impact on the Michigan local food industry, having successfully launched their own local food e-commerce platform, onboarded more than two dozen suppliers including farms, butchers, and bakers and more than one hundred buyers including restaurants, grocers, and end consumers.
“Local Line could not be more mission-aligned with what we’ve worked towards at Anjoy, so it’s exciting for us to be able to bring our technology and our users to their already great platform," says Jeff Boore, Founder and CEO of Anjoy. “I’m thankful for the trust our food business and buyer partners placed in us from day one, and I know Local Line is only going to further enhance opportunities for the local food system to thrive in Michigan and beyond.”
As the dominant farm-to-fork marketplace in North America supporting suppliers and buyers of all kinds, Local Line is pleased to be able to deepen an already accelerating presence in Michigan through this acquisition. Local Line onboarded their first Michigan-based supplier in 2019 and has since grown to support more than 250 suppliers. Through this acquisition, Anjoy suppliers will gain access to dozens of new features in the Local Line platform, and Anjoy buyers will benefit from access to thousands of new local food products that span every category including produce, meat, bakery, and center store.
“Jeff has done a great job building a strong community of local food champions in Michigan and we’re excited to welcome them to Local Line and continue the momentum Anjoy has created over the past two years. Local Line is well positioned to support the needs of all Anjoy users and our team is ready to further empower their suppliers with new sales opportunities, and further simplify local food sourcing for their buyers”, says Cole Jones, Founder and CEO at Local Line.
The transaction details of the acquisition remain private. Both Local Line and Anjoy look forward to a seamless integration of their technologies and operations to drive innovation and growth in the local food industry.
