Toronto, ON - February 14, 2025 - Local Line, the leading farm to fork commerce platform, and Edacious, an advanced lab testing and nutrition platform that helps producers measure nutrient density, are pleased to announce a new partnership that will provide family farmers with an affordable way to create detailed nutrition labeling on their products.

Consumers are used to hearing “Local is healthier”, but is that actually true? While it’s true that local food is usually fresher and has a shorter supply chain, it’s been historically difficult to actually prove that local food is more nutritious, until today! As part of Local Line’s commitment to help family farms succeed as independent entrepreneurs, we’ve partnered with Edacious so that Local Line farms can have real proof that their products are in fact healthier than non-local items.

Edacious, headquartered in Boston, MA, provides cost-effective, state-of-the-art food testing to measure and analyze nutrient density in food. Their reporting provides a detailed analysis of the most important macros and micros per food type including fats, protein, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, and heavy metals–the same data needed for a Nutrition Facts label.

Through this new partnership, farms on Local Line will gain access to exclusive pricing for nutritional labeling, which they will be able to use in their marketing to help attract new health minded customers.

How Edacious food testing works

Edacious’ lab analysis process is simple and efficient. Typically requiring six samples per product, the process starts with ordering a nutritional test online. After ordering, you’ll receive detailed sampling and shipping instructions to ensure your samples arrive fresh and ready for analysis. Once the testing is complete, Edacious delivers clear, easy-to-understand reports that anyone can interpret and use in their marketing.

Why is this partnership important?

Communicating the nutritious benefits of local food to a farm’s customer base is an essential part of marketing and attracting new customers. Local produce is often marketed as fresher and more nutrient-dense, (ex: grass-fed meat has higher quantities of Omega-3s). With an Edacious nutrient analysis, farmers can quantify the nutritional profile of their products which enables them to back up these claims with real data and command a premium price for their products.
