A Commitment to Local

Located in the heart of New Hampshire, Monadnock Food Co-op is dedicated to supporting its local food economy. With a sourcing radius of 110 miles, the co-op’s produce department partners with 10 to 15 local suppliers throughout the year to bring fresh, high-quality products to their customers. However, managing multiple vendors and ensuring smooth communication was a growing challenge—until they found Local Line.

Before Local Line: Managing Local Sourcing Was Time-Consuming

Before implementing Local Line, Monadnock’s team faced logistical hurdles coordinating orders, deliveries, and payments with suppliers. Placing orders meant chasing down vendors via email and text, while staying on top of price changes required constant back-and-forth communication.

“The most challenging part was tracking down vendors and making sure we had the most up-to-date pricing,” says Samantha, Monadnock’s Produce Buyer. “We needed a more efficient way to handle our local food program.”

Streamlining Orders & Communication with Local Line

Local Line has transformed Monadnock’s ordering process by consolidating all vendor communication into a single, easy-to-use platform. Now, instead of juggling multiple channels, the team can place and adjust orders in real time while out on the sales floor using a tablet, rather than having to run back and forth to a desktop computer.

“Having many farmers on one platform saves time and effort. I can now order directly from a tablet while working on the floor,” Samantha explains.

With orders happening as frequently as three times per week in peak season, Local Line’s features provide critical efficiencies:

  • Centralized Ordering reduces time spent coordinating with vendors.
  • Modify Order Functionality allows adjustments when a product is unavailable.
  • Improved visibility ensures accurate order confirmations and inventory updates.

Building Stronger Relationships with Local Farmers

Every year, Monadnock hosts meetings with their farmers to review past sales, discuss new opportunities, and plan for the upcoming season. By using Local Line, they’ve been able to improve how they track product availability and communicate with suppliers, helping to build more reliable relationships with local growers.

While some farmers were initially hesitant to adopt new technology, the response to Local Line has been overwhelmingly positive.

“Our suppliers have been pleased with the platform,” says the team. “It makes the entire process smoother for everyone involved.”

The Impact: Saving Time & Simplifying Local Sourcing

Since using Local Line, Monadnock has significantly reduced the time spent managing orders, allowing the team to focus on other aspects of their local food program. Whether it’s adjusting orders on the fly or streamlining communication with vendors, Local Line has helped Monadnock strengthen its local supply chain and maintain its commitment to fresh, regional food.

And when asked about their experience working with Local Line’s team? “Excellent!” they say. With Local Line, Monadnock Food Co-op continues to make local sourcing easier, more efficient, and more sustainable—ensuring that their customers have access to the best local products, year-round.
